It's simple...unless you're in a rush, don't go to any Chuy's unless it's the one on Barton Springs Road. The staff there is fun, the patrons friendly, and the portions big and cooked right. The steak burrito with hatch green chili sauce is the best. You want real Austin tex-mex? Stay in real Austin. ...tex_gecko

Chuy's bashing
People bash Chuy's because the food is very mediocre and not very Mexican (or even old style Tex-Mex). It has obviously been dummed down for the yankee tourists and frat-boy from Plano clientele. Not to mention the atmosphere is probably the worst of any restaurant in Austin.... Just another opinion.

Well, I personally think this NG tends toward the effete high-brow places that charge huge prices and serve tiny portions. Not that there's anything WRONG with that.... :-) I've been a HUGE Chuy's fan since they first appeared in Austin. Other places I like include The Salt Lick, Palmer's (San Marcos), Krause's (New Braunfels), Dot's Cafeteria, and The Black Eyed Pea (Go ahead. Throw your bricks. I eat at Luby's now -n- then too ;-) But the place I miss most of all HAS to be Pinch-A-Pollo. Can't get a decent Chile de Arbol sauce in this town anymore... So there.
