Having lived in New York and now in Austin, Texas the problem was where to find real New York Pizza. Problem solved! Reale's in the Ross Shoping Center out 183 just before Anderson Mill Road is the real thing. Mr. Reale imports all the ingredients from Italy by way of New Jersey. He makes the sauce himself. The Pizza is great!!! The restaurant is 3/4 full of people with New York accents and 1/4 full of lucky locals. Nothing else in the area comes anywhere near and we've tried them all. If you want to experience the real thing, this is it. Yum Yum Yum Yum!

Tastes are almost impossible to describe and New York pizza has a taste that is uniquely addictive. These other things that people call pizza generally don't even come close. I've tried about 20 different pizza sources in Austin, and Reale's is the only one that is the real thing. Understand what I'm saying ... some of these other places have "pizza" that tastes great but that doesn't satisfy the need for the NY pizza taste. It's all in the spices and the source (and as a result the taste) of the ingredients. Let me try to put it this way. I love enchiladas because I grew up in San Antonio. When I lived in New York a mexican food restaurant would open about once a year. The enchiladas would always taste super bland (like they were made with catsup without any spice) and after a month they were being made with the kitchen stock Itialian sauce ... certainly not San Antonio enchiladas. If you want to discover the taste of New York pizza you have to go to Reale's in Austin or thousands of places in New York. (For you Uno's fans in Chicago ... I love that stuff also ... Chicago pizza ... not anywhere like New York pizza ... but absolutely great stuff ... the one doesn't staisfy the need for the other but they are both unique and a cullinary necessity.)
