If anybody can name a place in Austin that beats El Caribe for food or service, I'd sure as hell like to know what it is.

El Caribe is on the west side of N. Lamar, one block south of Koenig, five or six blocks north of 51st. Their whole menu is badass. The mole and huachinango dishes are unbeatable.

Never been to El Caribe, but Manuel's downtown is really good--especially during happy hour when the appetizers are half price! Service is good as well--only problem is when it's really crowded the noise level is a bit deafening--otherwise I really like it.

I keep hearing very good things about Curra's Grill on Burnet (I think there's another one somewhere south)--the food is supposed to be great and very vegetarian-friendly too, but the one time we went there was a 20- or 30-minute wait and we were too hungry to stick around

I love Manuel's, although I don't get to go there nearly enough. The place I love best is La Feria. Yummy. Everyone should try it at least once. In fact.....I am thinking of something good for lunch today........

La Feria is on S. Lamar.....I think their buliding used to be a BBQ place. Anyway, it's close to Mother's Window Tint.

Not once have I had bad service at La Feria. There food is wonderful and I think I might be addicted to both the fajitas and the cheese enchiladas. There salsa is good and the chips always come out fresh and hot, and FREE (can you believe some places charge for chips and salsa? In Austin?). I always tell folks to try 'em.

Well, I am off to La Feria. I got hungry posting this. ;-)
