Buffet Palace, on Anderson Mill and 183 and now in Round Rock, has gotten rave reviews from all of my friends. I have never been there as I am not a big buffet person, but I have heard that they are great. Happy Feasting! Belle

Anderson Lane or Anderson Mill --- i'm thinking of the one at Anderson Lane/183/Lamar (southwest quadrant in mervyn's center). Probably safest to say the "best". Widest variety, including many many specialty items -- even sushi.

Other notables based on a few favorite items

Sea Dragon on 183 at Ohlen -- very unique and tasty hot and sour soup.

Shanghai River, on anderson across for the Village cinema -- they almost always have foil wrapped chicken out, and one of the very few with egg foo yong.

China Buffet on burnet just north of Dallas nightclub --- not any one thing that's spectacular -- but very consistently good, and they dont skimp on chicken or beef in their dishes

Since you're asking for a Chinese Buffet place, I'll make the assumption that you, like myself, are not necessarily looking "great" chinese food.

We usually go to "Buffet Palace" and "Sea Dragon" (at 183 and 620) for Chinese buffet. For Thai buffet, we go to "Bangkok Cuisine" and "Thai Spice".

There is also a place w-a-y south called the "Java Noodles" which is supposed to be quite good. It's Indonesian and not Chinese. we have NOT been there for their buffet (Sunday for lunch only. I think), but have been there for dinner and liked it well enough.

Now, if you ARE looking for good chinese/oriental place, that's another thread all to itself.

Also not strictly Chinese, but an Asian buffet with great taste and nutrition, is the Sunday Brunch at Satay. The focus changes every month, with last month being the foods of Singapore, and cuisine of the South China Sea the month before that.
