Well, it ain't in Austin, but next time you're in San Antonio, get yourself over to Little Hipps. This is an unrepentant grease pit. Last time I went I had the burger I think they call the Oinkster. 1/2 lb. of beef with 8 or 10 slices of bacon on top and any kind of cheese you want. I haven't had their fries as I prefer their excellent tater tots. If you're a grease loving carnivore, Hipps is almost worth the drive by itself.

Warning: Do not order anything on the menu which has "large" in the description. The large tater tots are enough for 4 -5 people. The large burger has to have 2 lbs. of meat and is the size of a dinner plate.

Try the shy poke eggs.

I love delivering good news about folks' favorite food places. Yep, the Bubble Room closed some time ago but Little Hipps is still crankin' 'em out. They're on McCullough just north of I-35 outside of downtown (8 or 10 blocks). Ugly orange steel building on the left as you're headed north. You _really_ can't miss it unless you're color blind.

Regards.
