We were delighted to discover that sushi is now available at Hampton Beach NH, at "Mr. Sushi" located on Ocean Ave between L and M streets. This is a tiny no frills "right on the beach" place with a large cooler in the front and about four tables in the back. The menu is basics only, Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, Ebi, Cucumber, California Rolls and Futomaki. They also offer seaweed salad, and several varieties of Japanese cakes and pastries. For less than $20 we enjoyed a "hampton special sushi box", California Rolls (with tobiko!), Cucumber rolls, one piece of Tuna, one piece of Salmon, and a "dual maki" order of California and Alaska (California roll with salmon in lieu of crab) rolls, and sodas. We found the quality quite acceptable. At 4 pm on a crowded beach Saturday, we were the only sushi eaters. There were several customers for prominently advertised 65 cent sodas, all were offered to try sushi, all declined. The young proprietor/sushi chef enthusiastically welcomed us, and said he had previously worked at Taipei/Tokyo in Portsmouth. I asked what he planned to do in the winter, and he said he planned to stay open all year. While the menu is too limited to make Mr. Sushi a "destination", we are quite happy that we can now have a sushi break without leaving the beach! Peggy in NH

sushi at Hampton Beach NH
I'm glad to hear about it!! I live in MASS and might make it a "destination" just for something to do!! Probably some of the best sushi, and definitely the best value, I have found at Shiro in Hudson MA, It's right on Rt 62 next to Rt 495. It's worth the trip from Hampton Beach area!! Rob
