I went to Little Tokyo last night, on Route 19 (636 Washington Road) in Mt. Lebanon, and had the best sushi I've had in Pittsburgh. It's a new restaurant, hasn't been open more than a week or so. Very nicely decorated, excellent service, excellent sushi. I did not try anything off of the dinner menu, although it looks good and has a few different items. No liquor license, so BYOB. No ties to the restaurant, just live nearby and would love to see it survive.

Great! Can't wait to try the sushi. For other sushi lovers, try the China Palace (yes, the China Palace) in Sewickley. Very fresh, large pieces and intersting combinations. Ed
I'd also like to add a very enthusiastic "thumbs up" to Little Tokyo. The staff was very pleasant, the food was excellent and the prices weren't unreasonable. It's located near The Saloon on Washington Rd., where the Papa J's used to be. I've eaten in the Japanese place in Market Sq. and the one in Station Sq., and Little Tokyo is better than both of them. The menu, while not huge, has a good variety of sushi, noodle dishes, tempura and grilled dinners. The lunch prices (apparently served every day) are very reasonable. While they have many of the Japanese-steak house dishes, the food is grilled in the back of the restaurant. However, they have a closed-circuit camera on the grill area, and a huge TV set over the sushi bar, so you can watch your dinner be prepared if you want to.
We tried Little Tokyo on Saturday night and were impressed with the cleanliness, the service and the food. We sat at the sushi bar and started with the Gyozo appetizer which was great, we then feasted on 4 or 5 different types of sushi and was treated by the owner to the calamari appetizer which was out of this world! We will definetly stop again soon.
