Two good places - the very local Can Majo in the Barcelonetta district right on the beach. Excellent very fresh seafood simply prepared. For seventy dollars two of us gorged on lobster with rice, and shared an order of very fresh and superbly cooked cigalas (prawns) as well as a bottle of excellent wine. House wine was much cheaper and probably more than OK. We did have some of the more expensive items on the menu, but good fresh seafood is always expensive and you can expect them not to ruin it, although it's not a place I'd expect fancy preparations. Can L'Isidre in the Bario China (not the best neighborhood depending on what streets you take to get there you might want to do lunch not dinner) is rather fancier than one might expect from the neighborhood. An excellent lucnch there set us back about $100 with just a half bottle of inexpensive wine. There are better (and more expensive) places in town, but we felt these two were good values. I suspect the Michelin starred places are a safe bet at their price, but we were looking for more local types of places. We did search out El Raco de Can Fabes in San Celoni about 30 minutes north of Barcelona. Three stars and expensive, but worth both the price and the drive. You'd need a car.
