Look into "El Botin", just off La Plaza Mayor. ( On La Calle de Cuchilleros? El Botin is not the true name, but everyone calls it that. Sorry I don't remember the true name.) Farily expensive. Reputedly the oldest ongoing restaurant in the world. Also take a night or two and go from bar to bar eating tapas. That would be my first choice in Madrid.

It's "Meson Botin." Very touristy. Great roast pig.
A friend of mine who lives there sent me this list. I haven't tried any of these. I also recommend "Casa Botin" y "El Asador de Aranda" for roasted lamb. For the addresses, buy the "Guia del Ocio" in any newspapers stand. Russian: Rasputin Meats: El Entrecotte, El Buey French: La Brasserie de Lista Libanes: De Funy TexMex: Si Sen~or Mexican: Viva Mejico Romantic: El Cafe de Opera, La Folie, La Galette, La Cueva del Almirante, Solchaga (expensive) Paellas: Formentor Rosana Martinez [email removed]
Try Meson Champinon (~ omitted) near the Plaza del Sol. It is on the side of the plaza and on the outside. There are several small mesones there that would be great. This is reportedly the REAL area where Hemmingway went. If you need any other resturanuts or places to stay in Espana (otra vez sin~) let me know I spent my parent's college fund in Spain. -Salud, Mateos([email removed])
