My impression of Hilton Head restaurants is not that great; however, I'm only an occasional visitor and there are a *lot* of eateries on the island.

Having said that, the Cafe at Wexford (off 278 across from Shipyard Plantation) is a truly charming place. The menu is Continental, but the preparations tend to be light -- wine- and broth-based sauces and stocks. If they have soft-shelled crab, *run* there immediately. Their white wine, lemon and caper preparation is simply the best I've ever tasted. I've eaten there four times in three visits to the island, and have always had a wonderful meal. They know their wines, too, and serve many of them by the glass.
