There is a strong argument that the best pizza in New England is at a gourmet restaurant in Providence, RI called Al Forno. Although we live in the Boston area, people swear that Al Forno has the best pizzas and we recently drove the hour and a half down there. It was worth the drive. The only thing I didn't like about it is they don't take reservations (very annoying). And the wine list is loaded with Italian wines which are very difficult to keep straight. And the decent ones are very expensive. Most of the $20-30 restaurant priced Italian wines are very very mediocre I find. And when I spend $ 30 for a bottle of wine, I want one that Wine Spectator would rank at 90 points or better.
