Vegetarian dining out

What are your favorite places to get a vegie bite out? Milk, cheese, and
eggs are OK, but no fish.

We like Taste of India and Tram's (both on Penn Ave near St Francis).
Italian is always a good meatless option, and we go to Alexander's (in
Bloomfield) sometimes; it's not too pricey. All other suggestions
 appreciated.

The Mediterranean (and Subterranean) Grill is in a basement on Forbes near
Murray, but in my opinion, the menu does not have a large veggie selection
 at all.

Kaya in the Strip has some interesting (if somewhat pricey) veg dishes.

There's a new veg/dairy Kosher restaurant in Sq Hill called Milky Way on
Murray. I've heard that the food is decent, and though I haven't eaten
there, I stopped in and I can tell you that my grade school cafeteria had a
better ambiance. They also use disposable plates/utensils. I'd like to
 hear people's experiences there.

The Evergreen Chinese buffet in Monroeville has a nice selection of veggie
stuff. And Oodles of Noodles on Craig St in Oakland is, in my opinion, one
of the best food/value deals for a veggie (or any) meal in Pgh. They will
make almost any of their dishes in a veggie version.

Mad mex in oakland and the north hills area has veggie options as does
Ali Baba's on Craig Street. Fuel and Fuddle (also in Oakland) has options but
vegans should be aware their bread is made with diary products. Sree's in
Sharpsburg is a great Indian place and their take out shop on Murray Ave. has
great food but limited options. There is a
new small all you can eat or take out Indian place on Oakland Ave that has
 veggie dishes.

I've heard Sweet Basil in Squirrel Hill has great Italian food.

The Church brew Pub has a vegan stew and other veggie foods.

Zeinth on the South SIde is an all
veggie place but has a limited menu. Very good food and fun. Kassobs on
Carson looks a little down and out but is wonderful.

Any one else have any vegan places?

Some more ideas for veggie restaurants:

The Indian restaurant in Monroeville someone mentioned is, I believe,
Udipi Cafe. It's on Old William Penn Highway, somewhat near the Indian
(Hindu?) temple. The food is all veggie, southern Indian. They do use
plastic utensils and an alarming amount of styrofoam, and the ambience
is nonexistent, but the food is very good and different from most Indian
restaurants in the area. Try the dosas (huge crepe-like savory pancake)!

Most Indian restaurants have a good veggie selection. One very nice
lunch buffet is at Maharaja on Banksville Rd (in the Days Inn). They
even have mango lassi at the buffet (and, I hear, chai in the winter).
Was there for dinner once and was disappointed, though. Service is
sub-par, but for the lunch buffet that doesn't matter much.

I have heard negatives about Milky Way on Murray in Squirrel Hill; have
not been there myself. Sari's, roughly across the street, is also
Kosher dairy. I got a calzone there a few weeks ago that was decent. I
got take-out, so I can't comment on service etc. They appear to have a
selection of italian and middle-eastern things (pizza, pasta, calzone,
 falafel).

Spice Island Tea House and Road to Karakash on Atwood street in Oakland
both have fair selections of veggie food on the menus. (Warning: just
discovered the hard way that Road to Karakash is not open for lunch.)
Also on Atwood, La Fiesta (Mexican) doesn't have much veggie on the
menu, but a newspaper review posted in the window says they'll make
anything on the menu veggie for you.

Probably my favorite is La Feria (Preuvian) in Shadyside. They have
daily "vegetarian" and "non-vegetarian" specials (that's really how
they're listed) and daily soup(s), as well as a set menu of sandwiches,
salads, and soup. On weekends, they have two of each kind of special,
and you can get combination plates. The food sounds weird (e.g., quinoa
casserole or potatoes with avacados and red peppers), but I have never
had a bad meal there. Save room for the incredibly dense bread pudding
 with caramel sauce.

And just a quick mention of the East End Food Co-op Cafe on Meade Street
(near Penn & Braddock) in Point Breeze. They have an all veggie
(perhaps all vegan?) cafe in the back of the store. I have not eaten
there in a while, but my recollection is it's fairly decent but very far
on the "granola" side of things. Service is cafeteria style, with a
 diverse salad bar.

Try Squirrel Hill. I think there's an actual vegetarian restaurant up
there on Murray between Forbes and Forward, and more importantly, there
are kosher restaurants that are wonderful for vegetarian purposes. One
in particular, Platters, is a sit-down restaurant that serves
combination kosher Chinese and deli food, so you can take your
meat-eating friends along. Be forewarned, however, that kosher laws
apparently don't consider fish a meat. Elsewhere, anything Indian is
good. I am very fond of Tase of India as well, but everyone keeps
recommending India Garden on Atwood (?) street in Oakland.

Udipi Cafe. It's on Old William Penn Highway. Excellent food. Sorta
low on ambience, though -- styrofoam plates and plastic utensils.
