Two new restaurants in the East End

Two new restaurants recently opened on Bryant Street in Highland Park.

One of them, "Nina", opened in the building that formerly housed "La
Foret" I have not eaten there, but I have heard that they have a fixed
menu for $19.95, and that the chef and manager are formerly of Hye Holde
(sp?) and the Top of the Triangle respectively.

The other new restaurant is called Cafe Flora and is in the building
with the large mural painted on the side. I have eaten there once, and
the food was excellent - much better than the food at Casbah where I had
eaten just a few days before. The menu is a bit small, but the lamb was
the best that I have had in Pittsburgh, and the swordfish was
outstanding. The food was as good as Cafe Allegro on a good day and the
 proces were somewhat more reasonable.

I found "Nina" to be excellent, not too expensive, well worth
 the visit and the price.

I also found "Casbah" to be second rate and overpriced, worth neither
the visit nor the price. Casbah seems only to excel in pretentiousness.
