Three Rivers Brewing

The Post-Gazette called Three Rivers Brewing a British-style
brewpub. This is misleading: it is an American-style brewpub, serving
British-style beers. That being said, it's worth the trip. I love the
Penn Brewery, which produces great lagers. But I also like ales (in
truth, I prefer ales to lagers), so it's nice to have someone in town
 producing British-style ales.

Currently, they feature four beers: a pale ale, an India pale ale
(IPA), a special bitter, and a porter. I tried a bit of all four, and
all were good. Two are worth special note here.

The IPA is the best of the crop. It's a nice, full-bodied, hoppy
IPA. The porter, on the other hand, looks too light. Porters are
generally black; this was more of a dark amber. Howerver, it did have
the roasted flavor and chocolate overtones I'd expect from a porter.

The menu is varied. It features some standard pub food, as well as
pastas, Mexican dishes, and so forth. The prices are quite
reasonable. I had the bacon cheeseburger with carmelized onions and
jalepeno relish. The relish was milder than I would have liked, but
other than that it was all very good.

My only complaint is that they were playing loud music while we were
there (Saturday afternoon). I really prefer a somewhat quieter place,
where I can easily talk to those with me. If they'd lower the volume
a tad, this place would be even better.
