Went to Dumpling/Sushi House last night for dinner. My friend got food from Dumpling House, which he seemed to enjoy. I had their maki combo plus an eel roll. The combo was a tuna roll, a yellowtail roll and a California roll. The fish was pretty fresh and tasty. The sushi did not come with salad and/or soup, as it might have at most other places, although their menu indicates that their lunch specials do include soup & salad. Although I will probably go back there a lot (because of convenience) I still like Kotobuki better. I put the Sushi House menu up at http://www.contrib.andrew.cmu.edu/~moose/food/sushihouse.html. As others mentioned, they deliver.

Esther: I'm with you. I thought their sushi was pretty good but not *excellent*. Kotobuki was fresher and much tastier. I still like Hana off of Market Square best. ** Ken ** "One of these days, I'm gonna get ORGANIZIZED" -Travis Bickle
I've been to Sushi House a couple of times. The fish has been consistently quite fresh, certainly comparable to other Pittsburgh places, but the chef's assembly skills unfortunately haven't been up to par. Frankly, things tend to fall apart. The service has been---well---interesting. The proprietor, Jerry, is solicitous, helpful, and fun to talk to. The wait staff are well intentioned but cheerfully clueless in the best Pittsburgh tradition. Among the staff are a couple of Russian teenagers, who could easily have been laid off from the late Moscow Nights. Jerry isn't the least bit shy about educating them in front of the customers. This is a pleasant place, and I'd like to see it succeed. For us, it has the particular advantage that you can order from New Dumpling House's Chinese menu, so the kids can get their wonton soup and spareribs (along with a Salmon Roe roll or two, which they inexplicably love.) But they clearly have some bugs to work out.
