Spice Island Tea House?

I am a regular at the Tea House (I was there last Friday, yet again) and
have not noticed any drop in quality. The meal was served in a reasonable
amount of time, and was excellent as always (I had the Beef with Basil Leaf).
The service is pretty much what it has been from the beginning as well.

Overally, still a great place to eat!

Unfortunately, this hasn't matched my experience at all lately.
I too was a regular when it first started up, but I think last
night's meal there was probably one of my last, as I think the
food's gotten much worse over the last year. I've tried to
keep my hopes up, and so have continued to eat there
 occasionally.

When it first opened, the owners were quite friendly and interested
in how their restaurant was received. The food was very fresh
and quite light; a real change from other places in the area.
The place was often packed, even on weeknights, and I was pleased
to see them doing so well.

Over the last year, they've added more and more oil to all of their
dishes. Their noodles have been somewhat greasy from the beginning,
but now all of their dishes have a pretty gross pool of oil at the
bottom (often more than just "at the bottom"!) Last night I had
the barbequed chicken, which used to be a very interesting grilled
chicken, but now appears to be deep-fried in some heavy breading.
The paratha I ordered with the meal was lukewarm (more like cold),
 and hard.

I used to love the gado gado, but have found it inedibly oily the
last two times I've gotten it. Curry chicken also falls in this
 category.

I've never liked tea, but SITH changed all that. :) Unfortunately,
even the tea last night was too strong and not as good as I remember.
I wish I could say they just had a bad night, but this has been typical
of my recent experience, so I'm afraid I'll have to (sadly) give up
 on them altogether.

I was also a regular until some months ago. Haven't been back in about 8
months now. The quality of the food has deteriorated incredibly.
I used to love their Java fried rice. Unfortunately, the last two times I
ordered it, some of the vegetables appeared to be raw, the dish itself
didn't have it's usual appeal, and was probably thrown together
 haphazardly.
My friends and I have experienced the same with some other dishes.
Their service has also deteriorated along with the quality of food. They
used to be friendly and it appears they don't care too much about their
 customers anymore.
I doubt I'll be returning to this place, which used to be quite a favorite
among my circle of friends as well. For the same price, there are a bunch
of other places where the food and service are also very good.
