It's been quiet here for a while...

I had a birthday dinner at the Station Brake Cafe in Wilmerding on Sunday,
and it was great. We got an Amex coupon for $20 off of dinner there in
the mail and thought we'd try it. Amazing little place tucked away in the
 Mon valley.

The menu is very extensive with a few excellent cajun entrees (seafood
etouffee and blackened redfish were fantastic). Moderately good wine
list, exceptional salads (try the caesar). I loved everything, but was
blown away by the cream of spinach soup.

Dinner for two without wine was ~$70, which included appetizers, soup,
salads, entrees, and bananas foster for dessert.

Amazing is right. A group of us had dinner at this place New Years eve.
It was one of the worse meals any of us had ever had. As the evening
wore on the whole thing became a big joke which helped make up for the
bad meal. Still it would have been better if we had stayed home and
 had pizza.

STAY AWAY from Station Brake Cafe.

I wasn't going to say anything, but as long as the votes are being
tallied, add one more to the "enthusiastically recomend" column.

I had a very nice dining experience there. I especially enjoyed the
chance to try buffalo, wild boar, and rattlesnake (taste of the wild
appetizer tray). the place looks fancy (the waiters wear tuxedos) but
it's actually pretty laid back. There's no dress code, and our waiter
was a cool person to talk to.
