One of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh is in Squirrel Hill,
Sichuan House on Murray Avenue. The service and decor aren't always
something to rave about all of the time but it is consistant, and I have
never had any real problems. The food is wonderful, they have a large
menu I try to taste someting new every time I go, this is not always
successful because I have a few favorite dishes. The prices are about
average for nicer Chinese restaurants in PGH, average $9-10 for entree.

Squirrel Hill recommendations?
There's a lot of good food in the Squirrel Hill area. For Chinese food, both New Dumpling House and Szechuan House are very good. Peking Gourmet Kitchen also does dim sum on weekends which is quite nice, though I don't like their normal fare nearly as well as the other two restaurants above. All those are on Murray. The Siamese Kitchen, on Forbes between Murray and Shady, is also quite good. That's pretty much it for good Asian food in the area, but for American food Gullifty's is worth going to. Their entrees are quite good, but the praise I've heard of their desserts is a tremendous exaggerations. Most of the coffeehouses on Murray and Forbes have much nicer desserts. There are a variety of pizza places on Murray, all of which are acceptable though none are great. There are also a fair number of delis and such which I don't have much experience with. Poli's, on Murray near the intersection of Murray, Forward, and Pocusset, is supposed to be a very good seafood restaurant but also fairly expensive so I haven't been there. Beyond that, my advice is to start at Murray and Forward and walk down the shopping district on Murray, turn right when you reach Forbes and stop when you reach Shady and you'll find a few dozen places to eat.

It's been my considered experience that non-dessert items at Gullifty's range from the barely adequate to the inedible. I do not understand how anyone can recommend this place for anything other than drinks or dessert.

Maybe for breakfast/brunch. But the rest of the menu is mediocre at best. Grant Lynde

We went recently and while we enjoyed the food and service do not have a pressing need to return... price was a bit high and most of the preparations over sauced for our taste...additionally a truely geriatric clientle the night we were there. Oysters on 1/2 shell were outstanding -- best we have had in PGH. For fish we have very much enjoed Rodi Grille House on Rodi Road
