There's a new place just down the road from me called Grand Slam. It's pretty good. They're at the intersection where Shady Drive E. turns into Castle Shannon Blvd in Mt. Lebanon. j-

South Hills Pizza
Someone wrote: > Does anyone know of a good pizzeria in the South Hills? Yes, Claudio's Pizza at 1000 Greentree Rd (about 1/2 mi from parkway west exit) 928-8978. IMVHO, you shouldn't be disappointed. (Does Greentree qualify as South Hills??)
I really like Little Nipper's pizza (the crust has a subtle smoky woody flavor), and Bado's is supposed to be very good, too. They are right next to each other on Beverly Road. To get there, go through the Ft. Pitt tunnels and take the Banksville Rd. exit. Banksville becomes Beverly about 4 miles or so beyond the tunnels, just past the the big Rolliers hardware store. The pizzarias are about a mile beyond that, on the left in the middle of a little strip of stores. Faye
Hi, I'd say make the trip to Vincent's pizza in Braddock for the best. I know it's not in South Hills, but you'll wish it were. I also recommend this: 1 Boboli thick or thin pizza crust 1 can Del Monte chunky tomato pizza sauce sprinkles of oregano cheese, etc bake at 450 for 15 mins. Awesome.

I seem to be one of the few that does NOT like Vincent's Pizza. I've eaten at the Vincent's on Ardmore Blvd. several times (unfortunately for me, my husband is a fan) and find the pizza way too greasy. I also think it's very inconsistent; We've gotten half-burnt pizzas, pizzas with the sauce and toppings all off to one side (caused by the crust expanding like a balloon), and so on. For some reason, these qualities seem to have attracted a cult following of sorts. Go figure... I see that there is now another Vincent's on Forbes Avenue in Squirrel Hill. How does it compare to the original Vincent's? *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* Sandy Demi Transarc Corporation [email removed] The Gulf Tower, 707 Grant St. (412)338-4356 Pittsburgh, PA 15219 "No matter where you go... there you are." -- Buckaroo Banzai *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
After the flame fest about Vincent's that went on a few months ago, I
tried the one in Squirrel Hill just out of curiosity. I was extremely
disappointed. It was neither very good as some claimed, nor disgusting
burnt crap as others did. Just mediocre, run-of-the-mill pizza.
How boring.
