River horse review

Well, I just ate at the River Horse, and thought that I would let people
 know what I thought.

First of all, I was really surprised by the location. After all the "is food
sexy" stuff, I had no idea that I would be walking into what looked like a
Super 8 hotel. It smelled like a bathroom when we walked in. Personally, I
was really turned off, disappointed, and had to smile and hope the food
 would make up for it.

Not a chance. The food was good (i had swordfish, she had the free-range
 chicken),
but the menu was, well, boring, and the side dishes were bland (the wine
list was interesting, we had a nice merlot). the cesar salad was ok, but
only barely. There was something wrong with the dressing, it was very thin
and ended up like soup in the bottom of the plate. My swordfish was not hot
when it arrived. It tasted like it was boiled. The mashed potatoes that it
came with were completely bland, even watery tasting. The olive sauce was
excellent, but couldn't make up for the fish. Neither could the four tiny
asparagus spears. I can't comment on the chicken, except to say that it went
unfinished, and we didn't take it home. I was afraid to ask how it was.

Not that the food was bad, it just wasn't anything special for the $24 per
 entre price. whew.
I can't understand why someone would open a new restaurant, talk about food
being sexy, and then just have the same old same old menu items...

I will mention that the service was very good.

too bad. another expensive mediocre restaurant i'll never go back to. I hope
Soba opens back up soon, at least there I could count on the food to be
 "sexy"!
