I think there was a review of the rest. in Sharpsburg in either last weeks In Pittsburgh or City Paper. There is another rest. on the Alleg River, between the zoo and Verona. Cannot think of the name. There is a rest. near Beaver I think called the Edgewater Inn. Restaurant by river

Get there around sunset so you can enjoy the river while you can still see it as well as later in the dark with all the lights. Go to Oakmont and follow the Yellow Belt (Hulton Road) south. At the top of the hill where Yellow Belt turns right, continue straight ahead toweads New Kensington. It's a couple miles shead on the left. Call ahead for a reservation to be sure to sit by a window. Fox Chapel Yacht Club, a public restaurant in spite of its name, is a marina right on the Allegheny. Exit PA-28 for Fox Chapel Road, and continue towards the river at the intersection of that road and Freeport Road. It's about a half mile on your right. I remember reading a good review in the PG of a restaurant on Washington Landing, but I disremember the name. I remember thinking we ought to try it. Perhaps someone will post more details here. The Carosel Lounge is sort of along the river. There's a great view of the old steel mills in Rankin and Braddock and of course the Mon. They have pretty decent food at a reasonable price. The Grilled Chicken Salad is a steal at $7.95. There's enough there for 3 people. The Carosel is located along Rt. 837 about a mile west of Kennywood amusment park. Plenty of parking is available. There is a choice of a nice florida type room to eat in or there is a nice deck for better weather. I just read a review of Silky's Crow's Nest, which is probably the one you're thinking of in Sharpsburg. It sounded pretty good and not too expensive, even by my cheap standards. Try Poley's Lookout in Duquesne. It has a beautiful view of the river and the food is very good also.
