 What an *awful* experience!

Arrived at about 7, were seated right away, waitress was friendly, menu
interesting (gator, buffalo, ostrich). So far, so good. So we ordered (2
pastas with marinara and chicken, a grilled chicken breast, a buffalo
burger, and a child's hot dog meal, nothing complicated) at 7:15. And
waited. And waited. At 7:50, we got more than a little frustrated, noting
that other patrons who had arrived after us had already been served. We
called the waitress over and she said that the kitchen had lost our order
but they were preparing it now and it would be right out. I asked could she
please rush my daughter's dinner, if possible (a hot dog, we're talking one
minute in the microwave) which she did, and we got it about 5 minutes
later...and there were four hungry adults at that table who could have
easily pinned the kid down and taken it from her, but we restrained
 ourselves...

So we waited some more. At 8:15 (an hour after we ordered) one of my dining
companions sought out the manager, and he apologized profusely, saying
dinner was on him (damned skippy it was, because I probably would have
walked on a check for the first time in my life if it weren't). He said he
was going back to the kitchen to get our food. *Half an hour* later (or an
hour-and-a-half after we ordered, for those of you who are keeping score) my
dining companion sought out the manager again, and found our waitress in
*tears*, poor thing. She said that they were busier than expected, and that
was why our food was taking so long (no accounting for the other patrons who
had arrived after us and already eaten and left!) but we of course felt just
terrible for her, she was doing everything she could. Finally, they brought
our food out, *ice cold*! I don't know if they had just *found* it, or what.
And the order of the woman who complained to the manager wasn't there, at
*all* (they did bring my daughter another hot dog, though)!

So we asked for take out boxes and took the food home to heat it up (we
tipped the poor waitress but did not pay the check, as instructed). On the
way out the door, a couple stopped us to ask how long we had waited...they'd
been waiting an hour for their food already.

The food was mediocre, the hot dog and fries my 2 year old had was the best
 part!

I made a good apple cobbler for dessert, so the evening wasn't a total loss.
