Ramses II

A group of us had dinner at Ramses II (Frankstown Avenue in Homewood)
on Friday night. Ramses features very good African American food at
 very reasonable prices.

Dinner consisted of BBQ Ribs and chicken, corn pudding, green beans,
kale with vinegar, yams, red beans and rice, and potato salad with onions.
The BBQ was very nicy--spicy and tasty, but not hot enough to burn.
The corn pudding was also very nice. It's a dish I'd never had before,
and I wish I could have had seconds. In fact, all the dishes were
good. And the price for all of this was $9.95 plus tax and tip.

For desert we had sweet pototo cake. Again, it was very good.

I'd very much recommend this restaurant. One note, however. That part
of town is not the greatest place to get lost in. There is a parking
lot next to the restaurant, though, so, as long as you don't plan on
wandering far away from it, you'll be fine.

One final note: the restaurant is also a pleasant place to wander
around in while you are waiting for dinner. The walls are decorated
with a lot of interesting art, including some wonderful quilts.

Football players, somewhere back in their phylogenic development,
learned how to talk like football coaches. ("Our goals this week were
to contain Dickerson and control the line of scrimmage.") Baseball
players say things like, "This pitcher's so bad that when he comes in,
the grounds crew drags the warning track."
