being fans of wings and beer, the wife and i went to qs&l last eve for a bite. arrived approximately 6pm. seated immediately. drink order taken immediately. pitcher returned immediately. ordered a half bucket of louisiana lickers, a sampler of atomic, a french dip stick, and some fries with cheese and bacon--can't remember the name. after signing the release form for the atomic wings, 6 and 1/2 minutes passed and the food arrived. the dip stick (an au jus steak sandwich) was very good. the louisiana lickers were a little on the greasy side. the atomic wings were...well...atomic. and the mess of fries were what you expect when you order fries like that. total cost for 4 food items and a pitcher of domestic beer $30--a little high IMHO. great decor--lots of old motorcycles, a formula 1 racecar, an old (late fifties-early sixties)t-bird or vette (sorry, i'm only 31 and old vettes and t-birds look alike to me). lots of nascar memorabilia. overall, a good time. --brad

I went to QS&L with my folks a week or so ago. After we had heard _so_ much about their wings, we were looking forward to trying them... Oh, well... Buffalo's Cafe in the North Hills beats their wings hands down... I don't have any desire to go back to QS&L... - Marci "So this is hell...and there's a crucifix here..." ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ "In all fairness to the Beholder, parts 1 through three had fewer Frisbee players" - SNL
I'm sure that Quaker Steak and Lube does serve great wings, but it doesn't seem like I'll ever know from experience. No less than three times I've gone out to Robinson Township (a long trip from Squirrel Hill) more or less specifically to eat at this place, and each time I've been greeted by a wait of an hour or more -- weeknights as well as on the weekend. I'm happy to wait at a restaurant that has a comfortable lounge or even a bar that has some seats left, or in a shopping plaza where there's somewhere else to wait or something else to do, but QS&L is basically a small crowded restuarant with no lounge that sits in the middle of a (very badly designed) parking lot. I won't wait fifty minutes under those conditions for any part of a chicken, no matter how spicy, no matter how good. To satisfy my wings cravings, I'll just keep going to Buffalo Blues in Shadyside. They serve tasty wings (tho' not hot enough, IMHO), good beer, and I've never had trouble finding a seat. Jeremy R. After a 15 minute wait at the bar we were seated. I found the meal to be very disappointing, but I liked the neat stuff on the walls and ceiling. This isn't much of a recommendation. karin.
