I am the epitome of a pizza loving person. I have pizza _at_least_ 3 time a week. A typical day could be: cold for breakfast with OJ, cold/warm/hot for lunch, and cold/warm/hot for dinner. This would be a good day for me. Anyways, I eat just about any pizza, but trust me I have my limits, and my favorites. Chains, like Italian Oven and Papa John's, have okay pizza, better then Domino's (gag!), but they all lake that handmade touch. The fresh dough, the ripe tomatoes stewing into a wonderful sauce, the freshly grated cheeses (and lots of them). The chains can't compare. Now, having lived in Pgh for 3 years in the Shadyside/Oakland area, the best pizza I have found is at Aiello's on Murray Avenue. the crust is perfect, not too thin, the cheese is plentyful, and the sauce is perfect. add pepperoni and I will love you forever. :-) I'm hungry. Many folks here in Pittsburgh, (including myself) think that Mineo's Pizza, on Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill has the best pizza around..... -Mara

A lot of my friends don't understand my love of Mineo's when the much better (their opinion) Napoli is right up the street. Sometimes, I'm inclined to agree with them, but mostly I'm not. I lived above Mineo's for a year and ate there nearly every other day for lunch. It was pure heaven (and extremely hot in the summer when the oven's were going non-stop.) :) Ryan Little
The consensus seems to be either Mineo's in Squirrel Hill, or Vincent's (on Ardmore Blvd). I also recommend Pizza Italia on Liberty Ave in Bloomfield. Someone wrote: > where is the best pizza in the pgh.area > >
Someone wrote: >The consensus seems to be either Mineo's in Squirrel Hill, or Vincent's (on >Ardmore Blvd). Well, that seems to be the consensus of folks who live east of the city anyway. But I'd stack the pizza at Caruso's or Bado's (both in Mt. Lebanon) up against either.

I haven't been there in years , but they have excellent white pizza. I also reccomend Mineo's , or my personal favorite Campiti's in Dormont, located on Potomac Avenue. -----Mark

I do love the fact that they don't use boxes, just a cardboard round, and a brown paper bag expertly pulled over it, puffed & twisted closed! I like Bado's pizza a lot, but I find their restaurant distressingly yukky these days (dirty, loud music and weak service). It used to be a favorite Sunday night-too-tired-to-cook place :-( Take out is still OK, you can get great stuff on the pizza. For fashionable pizza, the wood-oven stuff at Pizzaiolo's in Mt. Lebanon (near the Denis also) is really great, but there is always a line to get in. Davio's annex in Beechview did great pizza for take-out. I think that has moced to their sister restaurant, Palio, also in beechview. Christine Christine Berliner [email removed]

Derek Stop by Pizza Roma for a pizza... completely handmade, with sauce made from the recipe of Ben's mother, hand tossed dough, and loaded with toppings... Will

The best I've had is in Greensburg (a bit east of Pgh, but worth the drive) Jioios Pizza. Wonderful sauce and the crust is thin, crispy, and just a bit sweet. http://www.jioios.com/
