One of the reasons because i love Philadelphia it reminds me Paris sometimes. Cafe scene in philadelphia during the spring and summer looks like Parisian Scene. Short List Swann Lounge & Cafe Four Seasons Hotel, One Logan Square 215.963.1500

hello This is another good choice if you have a penchant for the opulent. Like The Fountain, it's refined and elegant, but not quite as formal (or as high-priced). It is as favorably regarded for its High Tea as for its Sunday Brunch. Try these out, too, if you can squeeze them in before you leave Philly.

hello Some say this is Philly's best cup'o joe. They roast their own beans! Pick up a cup while shopping at Reading Terminal Market. Next door is a superb cookie store...

                                  141 N. 9th St. 215.922.5122
hello Many Philly natives say this Taiwanese restaurant and cafe serves the city's best coffee. I strongly recommend you stop here for a cup of their siphon-brewed coffee should you happen to be exploring Chinatown. It's great coffee but the prices are surprisingly steep.

                                         Tuscany Cafe
34th St. just north of Walnut

hello Sucks. Foam so stiff you could chip a tooth. Pleasant employees, too.

                                   212 South St. 215.923.2630

hello They roast their own and have a big kettle on display to prove that they do.

                                  140 S. 20th St. 215.567.1983

hello The coffee is not fabulous here. Why drink second rate coffee when Philly's best is so nearby? Walk one block over and go to La Colombe

                              Starbucks
                               16th and Walnut Sts. 215.732.0708

hello A major law student hangout, you can also occasionally spot one or two of your Wharton profs kicking back for a frothy cap or two. Decent coffees, great pastries, try their tri-color mousse.

                                       The White Dog Cafe
Between 34th and 36th on Sansom

hello The coffee here is great at any time of the day. Next time you're on Sansom and you have a little time to kill, sit at the bar and order a cup.

hello Interesting clientele (young, artsy, and political) and decent coffee for West Philadelphia. Good sandwiches at lunchtime.

                                       My Favorite Muffin
                                    224 S. 40th 215.222.5599

hello Only the '100% Colombian' coffee served here deserves official approval. Nevertheless, other varieties are drinkable if the Colombian's not available. I'm convenient. The shop on 40th street serves decent bagels with flavored cream cheese spreads, bagel sandwiches, and a good. For the health-conscious, they have fat-free muffins: blueberry and cinnamon aren't bad, avoid the bavarian cream!
