Another suggestion is Jim's Steaks on South St. My personal favorite is D'Allesandro's in Roxborough, but Jim's, Pat's and Geno's get the most attention, probably because they're more accessible. What the heck, have one from each place and decide for yourself which is best. -- John Liz wrote in message ... >Ed wrote: >> >> I'll be in Philadelphia from the 16th to the 20th this month... >> >> I MUST have a *real* cheesesteak I've heard so much about.... >> >> Please... if you know of the good places, tell me so I can hit a >> couple of them while I'm there. >> >> Thanks >> >> bill at billzhouse.com > >Pat's or Geno's, both in South Philly around 12th & Passyunk...ask at >your hotel for directions. Philadelphia... help!
Philadelphia Cheeseburgers In Order of Personal Preference: Best: Delasandro's on Henry Avenue 2nd: White House Subs in Atlantic City 3rd: Silvio's in Hatboro 4th: Chubby's across from Delasandro's 5th: Geno's Steaks 9th and Passyunk 6th: Jim's Steak's on South Street 7th: Tony Lukes -Front and Oregon Better you should get a pork sandwich there - another Philly tradition 40th: Pat's Steak's 9th and Passyunk You need to get at least two cheesesteaks. One made like they do at Delsandro's with Provolone. The other, from Gino's or Jim's and a philly classic, oozing with cheese wiz. Either way, order it with fried onions. My website has pics, addresses and a short write up on most of the above. The picture of my shirt on the home page shows the fallout from a Geno's Cheesesteak with Cheese Wiz and Fried onions or, as you should order it, a "Wiz, With" Enjoy, Holly Moore http://www.hollyeats.com
<< I MUST have a *real* cheesesteak I've heard so much about.... >> Geno's or Pats in S. Phila., Jim's on South Street. My personal favorite is Larry's at 54th St. & City Line. There's also Dalassandro's in Roxborough. And you absolutely must sample a roast pork sandwich with spinach (or broccoli rabe if you prefer) at Tony Lukes on Oregon Ave. The best!!
