Penn State revisited

I went to "Schnitzel's Tavern" in Bellefonte a couple of weeks ago. The beer was moist and tasty, the meat (Rinderrollen, Saurbraten) was not. Maybe the schnitzels would have been better? The appetizers were fine, as were the spaetzle and red cabbage, if you like that sort of thing. We _were_ the last people eating dinner, served at about 9:50, so perhaps the food might be better if you start earlier. Probably not.

The service was quite conscientious and friendly, though also very slow.

I will probably go back, but only because of the beer.

I've heard good things about the Gamble Mill Tavern in Bellefonte (down by the water, natch -- near the old hotel), but they were closed on Sunday, so I couldn't try it out. It's apparently fairly expensive, as is the Victorian Manor (I think that's the name) on Rt 26 (in Lemont?) between Bellefonte and State College.

Let me know what you do, eh?
