Just wanted to share this... I went to Orfeo on Walnut Street (between 20th and 21st) tonight and had a great dinner- great Vietnamese chicken cuury, open ravioli, and chocolate orfeo (chocolate like tarte.) My partner had a little difficulty with the fish special- striped bass- served whole, bones and all. The portion was hefty- he had a quiche like vegetable "torte" on the side. The food was great and if we hadn't tried it, the outside appearance and somewhat cramped space would have been deceiving. The only crticism I have to make is that the service seemed understaffed and the atmosphere wasn't all that charming. Overall, we had a good time and would recommend the place- it seems to be doing very well with a constant stream of customers coming through the door. Has anyone else tried it?

I went there last month (for one of my many birthday meals). While it definitely didn't compare to dinner at Susanna Foo, the food wasn't too bad. The salad was okay and the chicken with fresh asparagus was good. Unfortunately, the desserts were pretty pathetic...dry cake with sugary icing.

I discovered Orfeo when it first opened (wasn't it just last semester?). The last time I was there though was few two Sunday's ago. I had the caramelized mushrooms (*very* highly recommended) -- the mushrooms were half the reason for our last visit -- the risotto, and the Orfeo chocolate tart or some such. BYOB, so you can take your favorite wine. Service was good and accommodating; they even played our CD's instead of the normal stuff (it was a bit empty at 7 or 8pm). The quiet atmosphere is also a welcome change.
