Oakland Cafe

Oakland Cafe is a small restaurant on N. Craig street just north
of Centre Ave that specializes in Mediterranean style food. Their
menu includes entrees, sandwiches, salads, hoagies, and pizza. The
most expensive entree on the menu is the Shish Kebab at $9.95, (Big
chunks of our freshly cut Lamb, Beef or Chicken cooked to perfection
served with salad and choice of rice or french fries) followed by
Kofta Kebab at $8.95 (Ground and spicy lamb meat cooked on a skewer
to perfection served with a salad and choice of rice or french fries.)
Salads average around $3.50 to $5.50 and pizzas start at $4.50 for a
regular small (10 inch) plus toppings. I have the menu, including
descriptions, in text form and can insert it into a message if anyone
  wants (approx 250 lines).
At different times I and several friends had the Kofta Kebab,
the chicken salad, and different sandwiches on pita bread including
gryos ($3.50.) all have been very good and veggies have been fresh
and crisp. French fries are thick sliced and appear to be pan fried
  rather than deep fried.
I usually take food out but whenever I've eaten there with
friends the restaurant appeared to be very clean and well lighted. No
wheelchair access (steps.) Service has been very good. They also
offer delivery in the north Oakland area ($10 minimum I believe.)
If you like the type of food from Salims' on Center Ave. then
you should like Oakland Cafe's food but where Salim's appears to be
a grocery that also preparers gyros, chicken on pita, and meat pies
and has a small seating area for customers, Oakland Cafe is a
restaurant (about 15 tables) with a larger menu and that also has a
  small grocery department.
Oakland Cafe is set back from the street (I think it is 313 or
315 N. Craig) in the building that Domino's Pizza used to be in,
next to the Craig Beer Distributor.
Oh and, sorry JJ but despite the "cafe" in the name, this
place doesn't make it to your Beer Lover's bar list. They don't
serve alcoholic beverages. I assume they took the word "cafe" to mean
a place to ead not a place to drink. :-)
