My wife and I ate at the new Monterey Bay Fish Grotto on Mt. Washington (in the old "Christophers") Friday night. We never went to the one in Monroeville, so I cannot compare the two. We chose from a menu of 22 fresh fish selections, and there were about a dozen more which were not available that night. They also have a standard menu which includes other seafoods (shrimp, etc) as well as beef and pasta selections. Something for everyone, but definately a fish place! She had salad and the Crab Cakes ($22.95) and they were superb! Not breaded, and big chunks of crab. Very tasty. She had a vegetable plate as a side. I had Clam Chowder and the Grilled Walleye. ($18.95) with rice pilaf. Grilled perfectly and served moist and hot. The chowder was thick and spicy. Very nice. We had a bottle of Joseph ? Gwerztraminer. Not a real good choice - a little too fruity for this meal, but a nice wine nonetheless. We topped it all off with Kona Coffee and Bananas Foster (her) and Cheesecake for me. We found the staff to be knowlegable and helpful. They were not overbearing, but were there when needed. Our waiter kept the water and wine glasses full without being obtrusive. The view of course is spectacular, and is definately a place I would take out-of-town guests. John and Joan Alger
