Well, that was chiefly what my post was about. I did mention that the
rest of the food was unspectacular, though unbelievably cheap.

Your essentially right about this. It used to be one of pgh's most
popular Italian restaurants, but has not kept up. I wouldn't really
recommend going there for anything else but pizza ( unless you just want
 a cheap meal).

figuring that a trad italian place had to have something going for it,
I went there with my SO once. ONCE. besides the rodent floorshow,
the pasta was apparently frozen and canned products from yon Igle...

they did some remodeling a while back -- looks a lot better now. We were
also told that the sewer line that used to smell so bad (although, they
used to deny it) has been fixed.
Some of the waitresses are very very nice. IT used to be that most/all of
them were known for their "attitudes" and to be honest, we got a kick out
of it. In recent years when they nicened up, we were always a tad
 disappointed!
Their spaghetti sauce is good and I've always liked their salads and
pastas. We eat there fairly often on Fri. nights -- they've in the book!
