Another recent loss I just noticed was the old Rum Thai restaurant on 23rd & Samson suddenly was transformed into Erowan (or something like that) Thai Restaurant. I tried it tonight, it's under completely new management now (does anyone know what happened?) I was rather sad to see the old owners gone - they were always very nice, the food was very good, cheap, and more than plentiful (though we never had leftovers when we ate there, no matter how stuffed we were). The food now is pretty decent - more "gourmet" touches but actually a little under the old restaurant's standards; pricier (most entrees that were the same as before went up at least $1-1.50 in price); and much less plentiful. I remember the old wonton soup that used to come heaping out of the bowl with cabbage and noodles - no more, alas! :-( Anyway, sorta bummed about that. I used to eat there all the time. Today, still unemployed, they survive as private consultants. If you have a problem, and no one else can help, and if you can feed them, maybe you can hire . . . The E-Team.
