Mad Mex in North Hills

1 post · Dec 5, 1994

I stopped by the new Mad Mex, which is near the Northway Mall in North
Hills. It's very nice. It's somewhat bigger than the Oakland Mad Mex,
and they have about 20 beers on draft instead of half a dozen or so. I
tried the Brooklyn Chocolate Stout, which was marvelous.

The big drawback, from my point of view, is that I can't easily bus
there, so I'm limited to one beer. Ah, well.

On the bright side, when the new Borders is finished, we'll have a
Borders and a Mad Mex within a couple of blocks of one another.

On the upcoming restaurant in the Strip: I talked to the bartender a
bit. She told me that it won't be a Mad Mex. It'll have the same kind
of beer selection, but will have Miami (?) food and a different name.

Football players, somewhere back in their phylogenic development,
learned how to talk like football coaches. ("Our goals this week were
to contain Dickerson and control the line of scrimmage.") Baseball
players say things like, "This pitcher's so bad that when he comes in,
the grounds crew drags the warning track."
