Sree's operates a little take out only place in Market Square. Last time I was there, they shared the space with a fresh juice bar. I would recommend Sahara for lunch. It is upstairs near the corner of Fifth and Liberty, on Liberty, away from point. As the name suggests, it is middle eastern food. I find the selection very good and the prices reasonable. I also think the food is better than Susie's. In fairness, though they may be preparing the same dishes, they may also be approaching them form different cultures, Greek versus something farther east. La Prima, also on Liberty, and farther still from the point, (very near the Harris theatre) has very nice foccoccia sandwiches, soups and pasta dishes. They also have a fantastic green tea called greenberry. I loved it so much, I asked them for their supplier and have ordered some to have at home. Best of luck! Gina

In pgh.food I read this message from [email removed] (Ntylions): >I remember reading somewhere about an Indian take out rest. downtown. It may >have been run by Sree's. Now that I'm working in town again, I'd like to give >it a try. Does anyone know of the location? >BTW - besides all of the chinese, pizza and hoagie places - does anyone know of >a good place to enjoy decent food at lunchtime downtown? > It is on Penn near 9th, I think. I had food there. Not bad. Like all indian food in the states it is not cheap. By the time you get bread and some chutney or raita with your curry you are looking at $7+ Matt Silberstein ------------------------------------------------------- It was long ago and it was far away But it was so much better than it is today J.S.

Does anyone know of the location? >BTW - besides all of the chinese, pizza and hoagie places - does anyone know As others have noted, Srees location downtown has been closed for months, possibly longer. One poster referred to the Get 'n Go which is in a former Arby's on Penn near 9th (in fact, they still use Arby's styrofoam dishes to serve food). I shared a tandoori chicken and a channa baji (A chick pea dish)(sp?) with my wife. Nothing spectacular, not as good or as generous as Sree's was at the beginning, but now the only Indian option downtown. Unless you are mistakenly lumping Cambodian food in with Chinese one of the best places to eat lunch downtown is a Pnohm Penh on 1st avenue above smithfield. The lemon grass soup is great(it comes with every meal), as are the curry noodles. Beware the crowds though. Best to go after 1:00. Jeff
