Good Lord, my grandparents (and in fact, all my relatives but for my immediate family) live in Hazelton or Freeland. Near as I've been able to tell, there's nothing at all to do there :) Lots of family-style Italian restaurants. Probably the best restaurant I've been to there was built in an old power station on the mountain but I cannot remember the name of it, something like the Power House..sorry I don't have more info right now.

If you like old-fashioned drive thru/diner type places (I now live in Texas, where such things are a sentimental novelty, so when I go visit, I like to eat at these types of restaurants), I liked Byorek's Knotty Pine. I managed to look that up and it's at 26th and Church st.

Have fun in Hazleton!

While it'll never be confused with fine dining, I'll second the Knotty Pine as a place to try. I've never lived there, but I travel I-81 several times a year and try to schedule a meal at the Knotty Pine. It's a laid-back, rustic, nostalgic trip back in time to a 50's style family restaurant.
