Grey Goose - Vernona

hi - things seem a bit quiet - so... we tried the Grey Goose on Allegheny
River blvd. in verona. (Do not confuse with bar of same name in Aspinwall!)
They have a small parking lot adjacent and there seemed to be ample street
parking. The restaurant (reviewed in the PG recently) is small with the
smoking section on a platform along the length of the rest of the room.
Luckily, all the smokers left as we sat down - but I could see this as a
problem. Decorations were twinkle Xmas lights - gave a nice touch.
Appointments were definitely not "dining" - e.g.. plastic cloths, paper
napkins, low-end water glasses, no bread plates and one package of
butter/one roll. However, the manager and waitperson were just fine and the
food excellent. Menu was your basic, chicken, pasta, sandwiched, salads,
seafood. we went with the entrees - which at $14.95 were the most expensive
on the list. Friend had shrimp grey goose - shrimp wrapped in zucchini and
artichokes or something - reported delicious. I had a filet topped with
blue cheese - huge portion, perfectly cooked to order. All were accompanied
by soup or salad was fresh spring greens with a couple of red onion rings
and 2 grape tomatoes with probably bottled dressing - but tasty. Choice of
potato or pasta and mixed vegetables - not the usual stuff - think this had
cabbage, tomatoes and other stuff - can't remember. We also had artichokes
stuffed with crabmeat for an appetizer - again excellent. did not try
dessert. This place is definitely worth trying for eating rather than
 dining.
