In Forest Hills, there is the legendary Vincent's Pizza. In Penn Hills there is The Green Forest, a Brazilian style barbecue where they bring skewers of luscious meat to your table until you say stop! Also in Penn Hills, Morgan's Family Restaurant has pretty good Italian food. Both The Green Forest and Morgan's Family Restaurant are located on Rodi Road. In Monroeville, there are a myriad of chain restaurants. (Chili's, Fridays, etc.) There is John Harvard's brew pub which is also a chain but I think there is only one other in the area and I think the food is pretty good. We like El Campesino for Mexican food. The China Palace is pretty good Chinese food. There's an India Garden which has pretty good Indian food. Monterey Bay in the Jonnet Building is supposed to have good seafood, although I haven't been there. Further east on Rt. 22 almost in Murrysville is a restaurant called Bellaluna which is supposed to have pretty good pasta, again I've never been there. The one time we tried it was very crowded which might be a good sign. I'm sure I'm missing some, but it's a start! Good places in the East

I've tried El Campasino in Monroeville a few times. It is the most authentic for Jalisco style Mexican food in Pittsburgh but it isn't near the best I've ever had. Will continue to make it at home till there are few more Mexicans in the area with family restaurants.
Hey ... Cozumel has much better Mexican food than El Campesino. There is a Cozumel located in Shadyside and one in Greensburg. Also, for Italian food, Rizzo's in Crabtree is wonderful. Monterey Bay in Monroeville is awesome for fresh fish. They are a bit pricey, though, quality excellent. The Parkway Tavern is great for a beer and wings or salads, pizza. They, also, are located in Monroeville. d Davidkac wrote: > >Any good places on the east side of town (Wilkinsburg on out) to eat? > > > > > > if you like mexican, el campasino in monroeville is one of our favorites. > > capt.mayhem

The quality really sucks. It's like those restaurants that advertise "home cooking" and you let them suck you it because in *your* home, the "home cooking" was *good*. But it usually turns out to be more like your friend's mom's home cooking - the mom who was the worst cook in the neighborhood. :-) Anyway, authentic doesn't necessarily equal good. Kate
For my money, nothing is much better than Monteray Bay in the Jonnet Building in Monroeville, PJ Browns in Saltsburg, Vallozi's in Greensburg, De Nunzio's or The Nest in Jeanette, Wooden Nickel in Monroeville, A Touch of Country in Delmont, or D'Imperio's in Wilkins Township.
