We have tried El Campesino (sp.) in Monroeville, in the Miracle Mile Dr. area. From what I saw it is run by Mexican people and somewhat authentic. Of course I have no knowledge of what true Mexican food is, but El Campesino wasn't too bad. There is another restaurant in the Oakland area, on Atwood Street called 'La Fiesta'. This restaurant may be run by Mexican people, though I am not sure. Since I have never been here, other readers may be able to shed some light. > I've yet to find a good Mexican restaurant in Pgh. Pittsburgh, PA
Good Mexican? (by Mexicans?)
La Fiesta on Attwood St. in Oakland is probably the best Mexican food that I have found in Pitts. It fairly comparable to food that I have eaten in Mexico and it seems to be run by Mexicans. While I can't compare La Fiesta to the Mexican restaurants in Dallas (because I have never been there), I'd certainly call it one of the best in Pitts. -Rich Brian Y. wrote: > I've yet to find a good Mexican restaurant in Pgh. we like to go to cozumel in greensburg. we have not been to the shadyside
cozumel, but have been told that the food is authentic there also.Someone wrote: > >so that is all I know about real mexican here in PGH ! Well, my Mexican mother-in-law enjoyed the food at Cozumel on Walnut St. I don't really like it because I'm not fond of "authentic" Mexican, so maybe that's a good sign? :) Cheryl
In pgh.food I read this message from [email removed]: |We have tried El Campesino (sp.) in Monroeville, in the Miracle Mile Dr. area. |From what I saw it is run by Mexican people and somewhat authentic. La Fiesta is quite good. The carnitas and mole are quite authentic. Not what I am used to from the L.A. area, but definitely real. You might also want to try the Fajita Grill on Ellsworth in Shadyside. They serve some of the typical stuff, but they also serve dishes from Veracruz, Yucatan, etc. like tinga. And it is run by a Mexican. It is a BYOB place, so bring your favorite Modelo. Brian Y. wrote: > > I've yet to find a good Mexican restaurant in Pgh. In my opinion, Fajita Grill has the best mexican (a bit more high-brow, if that is your taste), but be prepared for a wait. Ever since they moved to their Ellsworth location, I've been horrified at their service. But the food has been so good I keep trying every 6 months or so (and then I remember why I stay away). For less fancy mexican, I prefer El Campesino in Monroeville. The service is good, and the food is solid. Both places are BYOB, I believe.
