Fat Heads (South Side, corner of 18th and East Carson) is one of the
best places in town to go for good beer and good bar food.
Fat Heads has on the order of 150 varieties of beer, including about
15 on draft. Current draft beers include a number of seasonal beers
such as Anchor Merry Christmas, Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale, and Sam
Adams Cranberry Lambic. They also have Brooklyn Dark Chocolate Stout,
which is a wonderful stout that I hope the Brooklyn Brewery (makers of
the wonderful Brooklyn Brown Ale) continue to make.
The food is mostly sandwiches but good ones: great burgers and the Fat
Heads "Headwiches" which includes the Artery Clogger (bacon, ham,
fried egg, and cheese). (For smaller appetites, they have "Pinheads,"
smaller versions of the headwiches.) They also have salads, but given
that I often order the Artery Clogger with instructions to hold the
lettuce and tomato, I really haven't paid much attention to those.
They also have a variety of wings. Those who like hot food may want to
give the hot varities a try. A group of us who like hot food tried
their second hotest wings and found them to be at the very top of our
hot tolerance. I usually get their third hottest, which leaves the
taste buds still able to appreciate the beer.
Prices are reasonable. Beers are on the order of $3.00. Sandwiches are
$5.00 to $6.00.

Baseball has a bullpen coach blowing bubble gum with his cap turned
around backward while leaning on a fungo bat; football has a defensive
coordinator in a satin jacket with a headset and a clipboard.
