Well, I'm sure you will all be excited to hear
that my cat, Lucy, (a Russian Blue) got a
"Best Cat" final in one ring this past weekend.
I was thrilled.

I celebrated by having dinner after the
show on Sunday at Morgan's Eastland
Diner. It was delicious. Everything is
prepared when you order it. I had their
chicken dinner which was one of day's the
specials and is one of their specialties. Three
large meaty pieces of chicken friend to a
crispy golden brown, homemade real mashed
potatoes with gravy, coleslaw (a very unusual
coleslaw - quite a zingy flavor and extremely
crunchy - couldn't quite figure out what all
was in it but I suspected some raw onion, finely
minced), and 2 fresh-from-the-oven hot hard
rolls. The prices unfortunately are a little higher than typical diner prices but still not that bad. I drove home the long way (422 east to 28, then south to Harmarville) to check out the Summit Diner on 422. It was either closed for the day or out of business. I had called there last week to make sure of their hours and had gotten a recording saying the number was temporarily out of service. At the show I asked a couple of people from the Butler area if they knew anything but no one had heard that they had closed or anything.

Also, at Morgan's I saw a sign about buckwheat
pancakes and whole hog sausage as one of their
specialties for breakfast. The waitress said they make the buckwheat pancakes the old-fashioned way with a sourdough starter. I'll have to get up there sometime for breakfast and give them a try.

Anyway, I also stopped at the Venus diner on
route 8 on the way home from the show on
Sat. I had the roasted lamb special. It was
pretty bad. The meat was gamy (like mutton)
and the stuffing, aside from the fact that is
was chock full of celery and onions, which I
hate in my stuffing) was really nasty and soggy.
I like my stuffing very moist but not soggy!
The potatoes were instant which I wouldn't have
minded all that much if everything else had been
tasty. The gravy was not good either. I just
didn't like the flavor. Store-bought, mediocre,
roll. It was probably my fault for getting lamb,
since I'm *very* picky about my lamb. But the
rest of the meal wasn't very good so I'm not
so sure anything else would have been any
better.

From Butler, go east on 422 a couple of miles.
Exit at the route 68 exit (I'm not sure if the exit sign also mentions route 38). Anyway, go north on 68 about 1/4 mile then then take the 38 north exit off of 68. Immediately on your left is a small shopping plaza called Morgans. The diner is in the shopping plaza to the left of the entrance. The actual diner building is attached to a regular building but you can still see the whole stainless steel front and sides of the diner. Kate
