Excellent. Creative dishes, well prepared. Reasonably priced (easily under $100 for two people). Also, the staff shows genuine concern that you are happy with the food. Try the Ragout of Veal - superb. Only drawback: garish orange chairs and inexpensive, flimsy silverware. Definitely go.

Cafe Flora - Highland Park

I've never gone in, but the place looks like it's pretty fancy. La Foret used to be in the neighborhood as a rather-pricey place, so maybe Cafe Flora's owners were guessing that the neighborhood could support another such restaurant. You won't find me going to Cafe Flora just to escape cooking dinner on a random night, but it was looking like a good candidate for the rather-occasional big deal night, so I'm glad of the positive review. Easily is rather an understatement. I was there with my wife and I believe that we paid about $60 with wine. It was **very easily** worth the money. The food was excellent (I recommend the lamb - easilythe best that I have had in Pgh.) I am not sure that you can go for a nice meal in Pittsburgh and pay less than $20/person + wine. Pasta dishes were at Cafe Flora were less (~$12). I also believe that Cafe Flora is opening up a second section of the restaurant as a "cafe" - perhaps prices will be lower for this. Another great value in Highland park is the fixed price menu at Nina (former location of LaForet). For $20 you get an appetzer, entree and dessert! The food is excellent. Make reservations well in advance, especially for the weekend. Nathan
