Buffet at India Garden

I ate lunch at the buffet at India Garden on Atwood street yesterday. I will
leave aside all discussion of whether the food it authentically indian or not
beacuse I really don't know enough to judge authenticity of dishes I don't
 recognize.

That said I think it was pretty good if a bit steep at $7.45. There was
a nice vegtable pickle that wan't quite as spicy as I like it but still pretty
good, mint chutney (or something suitably green)that was good, and what I
think was a coconut chutney that was good. There was a nice array of
fruit and salad vegetables--nothing spectacular but sill a nice touch,
pieces of naan, and several chafing dishes of curry-like dishes that while unrecognized
by me were "good eating." Oh, there were some pakora-like vegetable fritters
 too.

None of it qualified for entrance into the restaurant or Indian food hall of
fame but it might not be a bad idea for lunch with the right group of people
especially if speed is an issue. Because you can just go to the buffet
right away--no waiting for the waiter and pay on the way out. My friend and
I like it well enought that I would consider a return visit if someone
 suggested it.
