I'm from LA as well, and I have always been very happy with Cafe
Allegro, on the South Side. My new favorite, however, is the Southwest
Bistro on 6th St. in downtown (see my previous post).

As for breakfast, there is nothing that can begin to compare to what
we are used to from LA. For special occasions, however, the buffet at
the Grand Concourse at Station Square is very nice. For everyday sorts
of breakfasts, I enjoy the pancakes at Pamela's - especially the
strawberry pancakes available on the weekends (the food at the
Shadyside location is usually better prepared than at Squirrel Hill,
and you can foget about the one in Oakland altogether). There is also
DeLuca's diner in the strip district which is good for a diner.
None of it's LA, but you get used to it.

 Enjoy.

You must take whatever I say in the context of who I am... or not.

If you are into the Pittsburgh-heavy food scene, believe it or not, "Eat 'n
Park" was rated best breakfast in Pittsburgh not too long ago. Le Peep in Mt.
Lebanon is very nice, crowded, and has imaginative food. Folks in
Shadyside/Oakland seem to like Pamela's as well. Pretty crowded, too. Things
are getting better about less smoking in the City. For a good deli, try
hitting the Strip District's Pennsylvania Macaroni. Lots of very good cheeses
and meats, ect. I'm sure S-Hill has some good delis too. Hope this mesage is
 of use.
