Shadyside takes one more step towards death with the closing of The Balcony AND Hotlicks after the first of the year...the Pottery Barn (a subsidiary of Williams-Sonoma) has taken over the entire building... Shadyside used to be such a nice, sophisticated and fun neighborhood...but the first palpitation came with the loss of the Gazebo...and Shadyside has been walking on crutches for years since...now the crutch is being kicked out from under this once vibrant neighborhood... I wish the Shadyside business association would start thinking with their brains instead of their bank accounts...without something to 'DO' in Shadyside, people will go elsewhere... My hat goes off to the coolest jazz club in town, with the neatest Sunday brunch...and a fond farewell...
