An old 1844 homestead remodeled into a rest.on Rt. 66 N. of Leechburg. Wife and I went there on a Wed. night. We were seated downstairs in the bar so we can't describe the dining rooms. Downstairs bar was attractive with old stone walls and a large fireplace. We were a dismayed to see this lovely fireplace decorated with a strip of those plastic vegetables that you can buy at Kmart. The rest of the decor was very nice. Service was good and meals were attractively presented. Wife had grilled shrimp teriyaki. Shrimp tasted very fresh and was delicious. I had not such good luck with the Filet Mignon. I ask for well done and it came back nicely done on the side I could see. One bite however told me to flip it over where I found that the other side was like coal. Waitress ordered another so I helped myself to a couple of shrimp. When the 2nd filet arrived it had been butterflied and was no where near as good a piece of meat as the one they had burned up. A bit gristly. I know a lot of people think it sinful to eat a good steak well done but for gosh sakes all you have to do is flip it over a couple of times.

In summation: if you eat there you may not want to trust the steak but the shrimp was good. Most meals were in the 14-20 dollar range.

I go there a lot (I live nearby). The steaks are usually excellent. But then I usually go for prime rib, not filet; and I like mine medium rare to medium. Knock it on the head with a baseball bat and let it fall on the plate...I like it to flinch when I stick the fork in. :)

P.S. My carnivorously-challenged friends are turning green, now. :)
