Pasta Piatto in Shadyside's very good, and you won't leave hungry. My
parents take me there when they're in town, so I'm not worried about the
price (entrees ~$15). They do have early bird specials, though.

But you might leave with permanent hearing damage. Not a good place to go
to have a conversation. When I was there a couple years ago, my date and I
couldn't hear each other, and before long we simply had to leave. Another
purported "nice place" bites the dust....

They are a great deal -- for around 10 bucks you get soup, salad and
entree, all of which are at least passable & often pretty good. I
almost never go during 'regular' hours.

Wonderful, wonderful food and all the atmosphere of a can of sardines.
 Think "black tie truck stop."

I beg to differ. Pasta Piatto has (at best) OK food at prices that are way
 out of line.
