: Uh...almost none. Most of the Ostrich farming that goes on : in this country (and there is alot of it), is done in order : to sell breeding pairs to other potential ostrich farmers.

: Nasty catch-22 pyramid scheme that's bound to crash one day, : if it hasn't already.

: Primary catch line is that ostrich is becoming a popular : food item, which just ain't so.

Just wanted to say that the London Grill in the Benson Hotel in Portland, Oregon serves ostrich. My finance ordered it the last time we were there. It was WON-DER-FUL! We are bummed that it hasn't caught on. We haven't seen the meat in any stores around here.

Ostrich is on the menu at "Hudson's on the Bend" in the Austin TX area. I didn't order it, and was kind of regretting not trying it when I came upon a sample in a local grocery store (Central Market). It was quite good (even when prepared in an electric skillet in the middle of the store :) Tasted sort of like a cross between beef and dark meat turkey to me.

Just had it at a restaurant in Bethany beach delaware, Sedona Restaurant. It was served with rabbit sausage. I think they also had emu.

It was great!
