An old friend of mine has opened a restaurant in the NW section of Portland, on 23rd, and I want to help spread the word about the place. We got savory pies to go last Friday, and went there for dinner Sunday, and all the food was terrific. The place is kid-friendly, too.

THE COMMON TART
2310 NW Everett
Portland
220-8027

Hours: Tu-Thu 11:00-11:00; Fri-Sat 11:00-12:00; Sun 11:00-9:00

My friend, Linda Meretsky, the owner (with her husband Robert and his son Jason) has been cooking GREAT food since the early 70's when we worked together in a natural foods restaurant in Boston. Now, at the Common Tart, they're offering fresh, simple, interesting, mid-priced food, plus beer, wine, espresso drinks and great desserts....see below!

				MENU

(All of the tap water entering human bodies from this establishment is filtered. This includes ice, brewed beverages and cooking water. We use certified organically grown produce whenever reasonably possible. All other produce is harvested no less than six weeks after the last spray. The table mills contain Tellicherry pepper. It has a remarkably nutty flavor that we find to be most enjoyable.)
