Just had to share this! I just finished a piece of my daughter's birthday cake. It was peanut butter and chocolate, and perhaps the richest, best cake I've ever had --- and I've chased good pastry in a dozen countries. This came from a modest Italian restaurant east of Cleveland, OH. It's called Mario Fazio's (not to be confused with the Fazio's Restaurant around the corner on Route 91). Mario Fazio's is just off Interstate 90 if you happen to be passing by and need a chocolate fix to finish your trip through Cleveland or the barrens of PA/NY to the east. Just head south on Route 91 (first exit east of the I90-I271 interchange) to Route 6. You will pass Gale's Garden Center on your right at the corner of 91 and and 6. Turn west (right) and Mario Fazio's will be on your immediate left (south side of Route 6). I've not eaten there, but my daughter has, which is how we knew of this cake. She says the portions are quite large, the garlic bread unending, and the prices reasonable (eggplant parmisagna is $8.95, veal ditto is in the $10.95 range), but the food is just good ma & pa quality. Informal atmosphere (tablecloths) and always busy on a Saturday evening. It's the desserts that will get me there (tiramisu is their "specialty" per the menu). Cheers, Rob Lake [email removed]
